Derivati OTC: migliorano i dati di giugno
Lo scenario RISK OFF ha portato molti traders, hedge fund e gestori a cambiare un po’ il sentiment sull’operatività coi derivati. Infatti, finalmente, possiamo registrare un decremento anche abbastanza sostanzioso nell’operatività dei cosiddetti derivati OTC (over the counter), che rappresentano volumi realmente pazzeschi.
Ecco quanto si trova sul report periodico dell’ISDA:
Adjusted volumes of over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives declined by 10.3% from June 2011 to $440 trillion, a smaller amount than reported in all periods except the second half of 2010.
Cumulative compression activity in the interest rate swap (IRS) and credit default swaps (CDS) markets have reduced notionals by just over $200 trillion.
Adjusted volumes for interest rate derivatives products ‒ which includes interest rate swaps (IRS), forward rate agreements (FRAs) and interest rate options ‒ fell 10.5% from June 2011 to $362 trillion but are modestly higher (7% or less) than volumes reported for all other periods.
Adjusted volumes for the CDS market fell 12.5% from June 2011 to $25.9 trillion (Table 3), the lowest level since year-end 2006.

Tanto per rendervi l’idea, il PIL mondiale oggi è pari a circa $70 trillioni. Quindi sempre numeri pazzeschi, ma non possiamo negare che un lieve miglioramento lo si può notare. Sia sull’ammontare generale che sui tanto temuti (forse perchè mal utilizzati ma NON da demonizzare) CDS. Speriamo che la tendenza di diminuzione venga mantenuta ancora a lungo, riportando la finanza ad uno stato più vicino alla realtà.
